Giving a helping hand to an organisation who help young people with their hands

We give a *hit

In Your Corner runs boxing projects for young people & adults to support emotional wellbeing, taking evidence-based ideas from psychological intervention and deliver them in a flexible way alongside non-contact boxing skills in boxing clubs and accessible community settings. IYC work with people to develop their skills in understanding and regulating their emotions and behaviour, using boxing as a route to engage people, with the aim of supporting physical and emotional wellbeing, development of boxing skills and sense of connection to other people.

Kathy, the founder of In Your Corner, asked for some pro bono time and expertise to help elevate their brand as they looked to grow and gain more funding opportunities across more areas of London. I created a simple visual identity system, with a logo based on a boxing ring, coupled against a type style and palette which draws on the classic semiotic values of boxing.

The identity had the job of needing to appeal to those who will provide funding, as well as attracting young people to something they would consciously like to be a part of

Capturing young people in the gym

I organised a photoshoot and got behind the lens to capture a group of young people who are active participants in the In Your Corner project. This imagery plays a key part in telling the story of what IYC does and why they should receive funding — as well as portraying a true representation to other kids who would benefit from support with their mental and physical wellbeing.
